We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead and support our Financial Services team in delivering high-quality financial management across the organisation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this pivotal role will:
- Lead and coordinate the accounting team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
- Oversee statutory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.
- Manage annual and monthly financial reporting, budgets, and external audit processes.
- Provide financial advice and support to business units, management, and Council.
- Champion best practice in accounting, systems integrity, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate annual financial statements, audit processes, and budget preparation.
- Manage the investment portfolio, loans, grants, and asset accounting.
- Lead system improvements and upgrades (TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere, Civica Authority).
- Support long-term financial planning and policy development.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
About You
We are looking for a motivated leader with:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government.
- Strong knowledge of financial management, statutory compliance, and accounting standards.
- Experience with TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere (essential) and Civica Authority (desirable).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
