Are you an experienced accounting professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for driving continuous improvement?

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead and support our Financial Services team in delivering high-quality financial management across the organisation.
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this pivotal role will:
  • Lead and coordinate the accounting team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee statutory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Manage annual and monthly financial reporting, budgets, and external audit processes.
  • Provide financial advice and support to business units, management, and Council.
  • Champion best practice in accounting, systems integrity, and internal controls.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate annual financial statements, audit processes, and budget preparation.
  • Manage the investment portfolio, loans, grants, and asset accounting.
  • Lead system improvements and upgrades (TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere, Civica Authority).
  • Support long-term financial planning and policy development.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
 
About You
We are looking for a motivated leader with:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, statutory compliance, and accounting standards.
  • Experience with TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere (essential) and Civica Authority (desirable).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
