About The Role:

Our client is seeking a highly capable Cloud Operations Platform Lead to take end-to-end ownership of their AWS and Azure environments. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive operational excellence and lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-efficient multi-cloud architectures.

You’ll champion automation, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps best practices, while working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure our cloud platforms continue to meet evolving business needs. This is a standout opportunity to lead innovation, shape cloud strategy, and inspire a growing team as we progress toward full cloud maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day operations and optimisation of AWS and Azure cloud environments, ensuring resilience, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure technical delivery aligns with business expectations and service-level goals.
  • Architect and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud solutions across AWS and Azure ecosystems.
  • Drive automation initiatives using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, while managing deployment pipelines through CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and GitLab.
  • Define and uphold cloud governance frameworks, ensuring strong security posture and cost-effective resource utilisation.
  • Embed monitoring and observability practices across platforms, proactively identifying and resolving complex system issues.
  • Keep pace with the latest cloud advancements, and actively promote the use of DevOps principles, automation tools, and modern monitoring frameworks.
  • Partner with senior leadership to convert strategic business goals into scalable cloud-based technical solutions that drive real value.

Key Criteria:
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and lead teams, with strong interpersonal skills and a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and technical teams alike.
  • Significant hands-on experience designing and supporting multi-cloud environments in large, complex organisations.
  • Advanced skills in Infrastructure as Code, particularly using Terraform and/or CloudFormation to manage scalable infrastructure.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems and perform effective root cause analysis.
  • Deep technical knowledge of both AWS and Azure platforms, including core services, architecture best practices, and enterprise deployment models.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
  • Solid working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (or AKS), with a strong grasp of microservices and containerised environments.
  • Competent in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, and related tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong foundation in DevOps principles, with practical experience implementing monitoring, logging, and platform observability solutions.
