A senior opportunity has become available for an experienced HR Business Partner to support a large, diverse operational workforce and partner closely with senior leaders. This role suits someone who enjoys balancing strategic work with hands‑on delivery, is confident navigating complex ER matters, and thrives in environments where strong relationships and sound judgement make a real impact.
About the role
You’ll work as a trusted advisor to leaders, shaping people strategies that lift capability, strengthen culture and support business performance. The role spans strategic partnering, workforce planning, organisational change, and the leadership of key people initiatives. You’ll also provide oversight and coaching to an HR Advisor to ensure consistent, high‑quality HR service delivery across the site.
A significant part of the role involves leading complex employee relations matters, guiding leaders through performance, conduct, grievances and investigations, and ensuring decisions are compliant, defensible and aligned with industrial requirements. You’ll also play a key role in workforce planning, capability development and organisational design activities.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with leaders to design and implement people strategies aligned to operational and organisational goals
- Provide expert advice on complex ER matters, including investigations, grievances and high‑risk performance issues
- Coach and develop leaders to build capability and embed strong people management practices
- Analyse workforce data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Lead the development and implementation of HR policies, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support organisational change, workforce planning and capability development programs
- Oversee key people processes across the employee lifecycle, ensuring consistency and alignment with business needs
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to the HR Advisor
- Support leaders to manage labour costs, industrial instrument requirements and people‑related expenditure
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Psychology, IR or a related field
- Experience in an HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or similar strategic HR role
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and industrial relations frameworks
- Proven experience managing complex ER matters and providing high‑level advice to leaders
- Demonstrated capability in workforce planning, organisational change and leadership development
- Ability to influence, coach and build trusted relationships across all levels
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data and provide meaningful insights
- Experience in unionised or enterprise agreement environments is advantageous
