With direct accountability for the sporting sector you’ll develop and strengthen partnerships, deliver measurable community outcomes, and lead a high performing team that thrives on innovation, trust, and purpose. You’ll also work closely with internal stakeholders to align marketing, media, and engagement outcomes with WARRRL’s broader business objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead community engagement and strategic partnership programs across WA to grow participation in the Container Deposit Scheme
  • Develop, implement and monitor strategies that build awareness, brand trust and container recovery, particularly within the sporting sector
  • Drive performance, planning, budgeting, and innovation across the function, ensuring all initiatives are value driven and aligned with key metrics
  • Represent WARRRL externally with professionalism and integrity building strong, long term relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and community groups
  • Oversee fundraising and education initiatives, driving container recovery through schools, councils, First Nations communities, sporting clubs, charities and more
  • Manage and mentor a team of Community Engagement professionals, fostering a high performance culture and collaborative way of working
  • Collaborate with Brand & Marketing, Business Development, and senior leaders to deliver integrated campaigns and maximise engagement outcomes
  • Use data and reporting tools to monitor impact, performance, and continuous improvement across the portfolio
  • Ensure a strong connection to WARRRL’s values, Reconciliation Action Plan commitments, and sustainability vision
What We’re Looking For
  • Senior level experience in community engagement, partnerships, stakeholder relations, or social impact initiatives
  • Excellent networks with a strong understanding of WA’s diverse community landscape, particularly within the sporting community
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and issues management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across sectors
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex engagement strategies and leading adaptive, community-focussed programs
  • Financial and strategic acumen, with experience managing large program budgets and evaluating impact
  • Experience working across a wide range of settings including diverse communities, local government, charities, and corporate partners
  • Exceptional leadership capability, with proven experience building high performing teams and coaching others to succeed
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across teams, functions and portfolios to deliver business goals
  • Background or network in sport administration, grassroots codes or sector leadership is highly regarded
What’s in it for You?
  • A values driven leadership role helping communities thrive while driving environmental sustainability
  • A chance to lead impact programs across WA’s sporting, education and not-for-profit sectors
  • Work alongside a collaborative and committed leadership team in a future-focussed organisation
  • Influence high profile partnerships and create outcomes that make a real difference across the state
  • Competitive salary and flexible working conditions
  • An opportunity to be part of a meaningful movement towards a cleaner, greener WA
