The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to provide high‑level financial and operational support to the Commercial Financial Controller (CFC). This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance and efficient month‑end close processes, while also overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
This position is well suited to a proactive, hands‑on accountant who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the CFC, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports
- Supporting annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting
- Assisting with board reporting, variance analysis and cash flow forecasting
- Supporting audits, year‑end processes and statutory reporting
- Supervising and providing day‑to‑day guidance to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll
- Asset management, including fixed asset registers, depreciation and reconciliations
- Payroll cost accounting, payroll allocations and payroll‑related reconciliations
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax and Return to Work SA obligations
- Liaising with external advisors including auditors, accountants, ATO and regulators
- Preparing solar reporting and lodging Large‑Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs)
- Driving strong financial controls, process improvement and system enhancements
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- CPA, CA or IPA qualification (essential)
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar Financial Accountant role within private enterprise
- Demonstrated experience managing and supervising small finance teams
- Strong technical accounting expertise across GL, ERP systems and month‑end processes
- Proven experience with payroll accounting, tax compliance and statutory reporting
- Strong Excel and MS Office capability
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders
