Lifeline WA is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead our payroll and accounts team and ensure our financial operations are accurate, compliant and reliable. This newly created role is ideal for a detail‑driven finance professional who wants their work to create genuine community impact.
About the Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee the end‑to‑end payroll and accounting function, ensuring timely processing, strong internal controls, efficient month‑end close, and high‑quality reporting for management, executive and board stakeholders. You will manage two direct reports and drive continuous improvements across systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accurate recording and reconciliation of all financial transactions, ensuring strong internal controls and appropriate delegations.
- Lead month-end processes including journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Manage fortnightly payroll, ensuring correct award interpretation (SCHADS desirable), agreements, allowances, leave and statutory obligations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Fair Work, ATO and statutory reporting
- Prepare timely payroll, financial and management reporting for operational leaders, the Executive and Board.
- Support smooth audit processes with complete, well‑documented information
- Continuously improve finance and payroll systems, processes and documentation to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Lead, support and develop the finance team, ensuring capability, cross‑coverage and high-quality service delivery.
- Highly organised, reliable and deadline-driven
- Strong integrity when handling confidential information
- Proactive, improvement‑focused and comfortable working independently
- Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience managing payroll and accounting functions
- Knowledge of awards, reconciliations, audits and statutory obligations
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, Fair Work and ATO requirements
- Experience in the not‑for‑profit sector is highly regarded
